Just to put it to rest, Rhonda, my speech volume is at 5, and I boosted the DAISY playback volume as far as it will go. The audio file is recorded at normal volume. The Volume of the DAISY recording is much lower than the speech volume, and I can't increase it any more. I do not experience the same problem with MP3 music files in the media player. I think it is a flaw in the KS7.2 implementation of DAISY, but no one else has noted it so far, so perhaps my situation is unique.
