Alex, Yyes, USB connection allows you to have the Internet connection, not the network, to be rerouted to your BrailleNote. The network redirection is not supported by Windows CE (USB is solely used for ActiveSync and/or connecting to the Internet; network connection fulfills both roles, so with this, you can browse both the Internet and the network..
