I hate looking through tapes too. What I don't understand though is that the DAISY books that are supported on the BN from Bookshare are text-only, so it's pretty much the same as reading a text or BRF file, except that it takes up much more space. If the DAISY books had recorded narration, then that would be different.

Kandie

I have been using Daisy books for several years now and
considering the
hundreds of hours spent looking though cassettes I wouldn't go
back for
anything. As a blind person the ability to go to any page or
paragraph I
want is a step in to the modern world. To be able to get my
monthly
magazines on one disc with 10 titles be able to play it while I
am traveling
to work have no tape hiss no muffled readers just good clear
audio all the
time. I can understand how in the beginning it can be a little
intimidating
especially when your not sure of all you choices. However once
you figure it
out most won't ever want anything less. On top of all that
manufacturers
have announced the cassettes are stopping production this year.

I don't understand it either. People say that DAISY books are
easier to
navigate through, but I don't think that's true. I think they're
a pain.

Can someone make sense of this discussion?
I ws told that a "daisy book" meant it was a speech
document. Wit
the BN, you can actualy listen to BRF books.
So, why do you need daisy at all on the BN?
