I couldn't agree more. Note taking is, in and of itself, a learning and reinforcing experience. The very act of taking notes, in other words, can serve to help the note taker assimilate the material. It is also a good tool for students as it teaches one to concentrate on those things that will serve as memory triggers. That is why the idea of someone taking notes for a blind person is, to me, defeating the whole purpose of taking notes. And, there is no better way to take those notes than with a Braillenote product! See how I got back on topic? Personally, the point of taking notes is to get your own impression not for a little translation of the material. If you had a digital exact copy, you would then have to go back through the material to pick out the important points. This is a lot of doubling of effort. I am basically wanting to record for podcasts for certain things. My notes would be for my personal information. A transcript just seems like a lot of wasted material. This is my personal opinion however and I am aware that many people record lectures and then go back and take notes. I assume that they have more time in their life to be able to attend the lecture twice.
