Hi David,

There are several advantages to upgrading to the MPower. I'll list
some of them here. I may forget one or two. But first, David, you
need to find the money for upgrading. Your school should be able to
help with this. This upgrade is necessary so that you can do your
work more easily and in a timely way. If you live in the U.S., your
request for the transplant will have to go through your school's
committee for students with disabilities. Dunnow what they call it
where you live, it goes by many names. They will have to match your
request with your IEP, your Individual Education Program to see how or
if it will help you to achieve your goals. they will need time to
talk about this and evaluate your request and so on. If they need
help, tell them to come to this list or to write to any of us
individually.

First reason is if you upgrade to the MPower running 7.2, you will be
able to read DAISY books. This will become more and more necessary as
you go through high school and need more and more books. DAISY books
are going to be the way that everyone reads books in a couple of
years. RFB&D is already going toward DAISY books, in fact, they will
not be making any more books on cassette starting in January.

Second, you will have more options for connectivity, most notably you
will have USB capability. This will allow you to connect to anything,
well maybe not everything, but many things with USB ports including
external hard drives, memory sticks, and many printers and embossers.

You will also get Bluetooth capability something which may prove
helpful in connecting to other computers and devices.

The MPower also has a recorder feature so you can record notes or
lectures and so on.

It's worth some serious consideration, David. The cost, including
upgrading to 7.2 will be something on the order of $2,300.00. For
exact pricing you need to consult Humanware.

Hope this helps,
Ann P.
