This is a great topic.
I too use my M Power at church.
I'm the Music Director/Worship Leader and I use my M Power all the time.

People at church do ask questions, but ones I tell them what I'm doing, they are fine with it.

I also take notes on the teaching, read my bible verces and teach sunday school with it.

I also keep track of all the music sets that we do from week to week.

I wish someone would send me the weekly bulletin, but I'm not that lucky.

My M Power gets a lot of stage time.
Sometimes, when I'm teaching the band or the Ensemble a new song, I'll play the MP3 from the MPOWER. This is great because I can plug it in to the sound system and can controll the play back right from my piano, instead of having the sound man stop and play the track.

The MPOWER has really helped me a lot in my church life.

I like the idea of reading hymns from it, but there is no way for me to play and read at the same time.

I would be interested in seeing what hymns you all have on your BNS if you are interested in sharing.
We sing about 25% hymns and 75% new songs.

Thanks for shareing your BN stories.

Subject: [Braillenote] Braille Note In Church

Hi All,

Our church secretary e-mails the bulletin for Sunday each Friday.
A church
member volunteer types the words of the hymns we are to sing each
week. I
paste the hymns into the bulletin where they are to be sung.
Then I save a
text copy of each hymn with its number and title as the name of
the
document. That way they all are listed as in the print hymnal in
the
folder on my compact flash card. I continually update a hymn
list and sent
it to our church secretary so that she knows if a given hymn is
already in
my folder. In this way, I am gradually creating a text version
of our
hymnal and I have the bulletin, the announcements, and the hymns
for each
week. I e-mail my edited version to a blind friend who also
attends our
church and uses a different note taker.

There was a bit of a learning curve for getting all this to work
out, but
now it is slick. I agree with a previous post that one must
strip out all
the formatting by converting the document to a .txt format.

There have also been times when I have embossed a copy of our
church
bulletin for friends visiting.

When I bought my Braille Note initially, I went back and forth
about the
extra expense for the braille display. Now I am so glad that I
spent the
extra money. Another church-related use I make of it is to
braille the
music for our chimes group and read and memorize from my
electronic copy.

Everyone sees my Braille Note in church and there is no problem.

Once though, when the little kids came forward for the children's
sermon, I
was in the front row and searching for a Bible verse that I hoped
to use in
my part of the service. One little kid, as he left, accused me
of playing
computer games during the service. There was no time to set him
straight. Oh, the impression we make.

May I ask, would the church allow worshippers to follow along
using an
MPower? Just curious. A very interesting idea though!

to
take my M-power to church and be able to follow along.
Still interested in hymns. Never got the free hymnal a bible
study
group promiced me at convention. It was just the words.

Hi Guys,

I'm on the trail. It's gettin' warmer, but I haven't been able
to
contact the lady. She's out of the office. Hang in there folks.
I've often found that the best way to get info is to start at the
original source. So, I'm hoping the Xavier Society does have
what
Mona wants. It may not be in electronic format, but it should be
in
hard copy Braille.
