It is recommended to have data service, but not required. But, it is 
necessary for the phone to be blutooth capable. I will just restate what 
joseph said, which was that all of the instructions can be done with any 
provider, but the service user name, phone number, and password fields will 
differ. I chose to use Cingular as an example because that is the provider 
that I am with.
