Vicky and list,
Here is one more thing that you should try: try this while running ALL KeySoft programs on the mPower, PK, and the Classic--that is, Wordprocessor, Planner, Address List, Email, Internet (you should open a site), Media Player (you should have a file playing), Book Reader, Scientific Calculator, Database Manager (you should select one database), and Games (you should have at least one game opened). Why won't we try Wordprocessor this time with the same files and see what we can come up with it? Then, you'll be able to figure it out what my first post on this subject matwither meant. I would like to apologize if this post has become long (Kathy, please forgive me).

I've finally found what's going on!

Okay Joseph, why not, grin.

First with my PK running KS 7.2, build 43,
hardware revision 2, kernel
version 11.
I turned on the unit and then did a regular
c3 c4 reset.
Then I hit space with o and space with i
twice and showed program memory
used of 11304K.
I then went back to the main menu and hit
backspace and enter with b to
bring up the book reader.
I then loaded the 126.23KB text file of the
GPS manual in the flash
disk/manual folder.
Then, right after I heard top of document, I
did the space with o and space
with i twice and showed program memory used
of 13444K.
I then exited the support information mode
and options menu with space with
e and out of habit did a backspace with q to
exit the book reader.
I was put in the main menu and so did the
space with o and space with i
twice and saw program memory used of 12452K.
I then went back to the main menu and then
back to the book reader.
I then loaded the 1.29KB Braille
demonstration document in the flash
disk/general
folder.
Guess I had been there before at some point
fairly recently as I was put at
the end of the document.
I then did the space with o and space with i
twice and saw program memory
used of 12484K.
I then exited back to the main menu as before
and did the space with o space
with i twice and saw program memory used of
12460K.
I then went back to the book reader for
another time and loaded the 114.4KB
text document a Christmas Carol in flash
disk/my books folder.
When I saw the top of document and the words
An Excerpt, I once again did
the space with o and space with i twice and
saw program memory used 13372K.
I then went back to the main menu as before
and did the space with o and
space with i twice and saw program memory
used 12460K.
I then went back to the book reader for a
final time and loaded a 164.47KB
Microsoft Word file I had on my flash disk.
When I heard top of document I did the space
with o and space with i twice
and saw program memory used of 13660K.
I then exited the document and went back to
the main menu and did the space
with o and space with i twice and saw program
memory used of 12468K.
I then went back to the main menu and
performed another c3 c4 reset and did
the space with o and space with i twice and
saw program memory used of
11340K.

Second for my mPower BT32 running KeySoft 7.2
build 43 with the modification
to fix the battery having been done and
hardware revision rvc6s and kernel
version 6.
I performed a regular reset with no keys held
down.
Then I did the space with o and space with i
twice and saw program memory
used 5920K.
I then went to the main menu and to the book
reader as with the PK and
loaded the 126.23KB text GPS manual in the
flash disk/manual folder.
When I heard top of document I did the space
with o and space with i twice
and saw program memory used 7080K.
I then exited the support information mode
and options menu with space with
e and the file with backspace q.
I went to the main menu and then did the
space with o and space with i twice
and saw program memory used 6088K.
I then went back to the main menu and then to
the book reader and loaded the
1.29K demonstration document Braille file in
the flash disk/general folder.
I was placed at the top of the document and
then did the space with o and
space with i twice and saw program memory
used of 6116K.
I then exited back to the file and then to
the main menu and did the space
with o and space with i twice and saw program
memory used of 6092K.
I then went back to the main menu and to the
book reader and loaded the
114.4KB a Christmas Carol text document in
the flash disk/my books folder.
I was put at the top of document so I then
did the space with o and space
with i twice and saw program memory used of
7000K.
I then went back to the main menu and did the
space with o and space with i
twice and saw program memory used of 6088K.
I then went back to the main menu and to the
book reader and loaded a
164.47KB Microsoft Word file I had on my
flash disk.
When I heard top of document I did the space
with o and space with i twice
and saw program memory used of 7284K.
I then exited the document and went to the
main menu and then did the space
with o and space with i twice and saw program
memory used 6096K.
I then went to the main menu and did the
regular reset with no keys held
down and then did the space with o and space
with i twice and saw program
memory used of 5940K.

Note that, with both the PK and mPower, I
opened up each of the documents in
their respective formats and didn't translate
them at all. Note also that I
did try these same tests several times on
each unit. And, while the numbers
varied slightly each time, the overall
results were essentially the
same.----- Original Message -----

Kandi,
You sound like Vicky Collins (it was through
her and my observation and analysis that my
hypothesis on download issue was proven to be
correct). If anybody is interested in this
matter, you can join in. Posts from
HumanWare engineers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
