But a customer care representative said she was using 4.2 . And when she
told me that she must be using it for BN. Please can someone confirm?

You need 3.8 for the BN as this works with Windows CE 4.2. The higher
versions of active sync work with Windows CE 5 which the BN family of
products do not run on.
