Arta,
On the standard mode, press dots 1-2-4-5 (g) to switch to grade 2. P.S. For more instructions, write to me off list.

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Jaws PC keyboard
emulator

I think I did accordingly to install the
program. But when I am trying to
read a word document, using it as terminal
for my computer, the bn hangs. it
has happened twice, i mean i have tried
twice. both the times i had to
restart.
some garbled text appears on the display. I
don't know 8 dot braille, but
still I should be able to gather something.
Any idea why is this happening?
thanks for any suggestion or opinion.

Thank you very much joseph for these
detailedinstructions. I found a word
file amongst the files for the program. but
the commands described there are

all meant for bt keyboard. how do I
translate them to qt keyboard? for
instance when it says 7 with a what would
that mean?
Thanks again.

Tara,
If you look closely, you'll see another zip
file. Extract the zip file first
onto My Documents folder, and extract the
second file onto My Documents.
Copy the resulting files (except
braillenote.jlb) to the following
locations:
C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\7.0
C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\7.0\Settings\Enu C:\Documents
and
Settings\(username)\Application Data\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\7.0\Settings\Enu Where
username is the name of the user that
you are logged on as e.g. Administrator.
Then, shutdown JAWS and copy the
braillenote.jlb file onto the directories
that were mentioned. Then from
these directories, press enter on
pdihooks.exe. A beep will confirm that it
is running. On your BrailleNote, go to
Terminal for Screen Reader and select
Serial port. A beep will confirm that you
are in "standard/navigation" mode.
On your computer, restart JAWS (Windows+R,
then jaws7, enter). The contents
of the screen will then be shown. To switch
to "extended/emulator" mode,
press space with I. A double beep will
confirm that you are in emulator
mode. To switch back to standard mode, press
space with I again. For list of
emulated commands, press Space with H from
Emulator mode. This will give you
the key assignments that are associated with
the QWERTY keys. Please note
that you must use computer braille to edit
text. Also be aware that when
copying braillenote.jlb file, JAWS should not
be running, otherwise an error
is given.

can use a serial cable to
connect bn to the computer. good riddance

a zip file for the program mentioned in the
subject,

where do I extract these files?
Any other do's and don't's before using this
program? I am using jaws 7 with

xp2.
