Diane, What is the Word version that was used to create the document in question? There is a known issue where documents that were composed using Word XP or later will not open properly on the BN. If there is a setting where you can save the doc using Word 2000 format, use it, as it ensures that all unnecessary format markers are removed.

The only way I can read these documents is to save each one as a .txt file. These are word files I received from a textbook publisher. I would at least like to know what could be causing this problem from within the files.
