OK,

I am waiding in again. I have read carefully the information about saving the file as a .kwb file when it was actually a computer braille file. Computer braille would be the same as a print file, I would suppose. Now, of course, you would not want to do anything to the original file that you would regret. Therefore, I suggest that you make a copy of the original file and then change the file extension from .kwb to .kwt on the copy of the file. For my own edification, I would try this, but my unit is currently en route to the BN hospital. Anyway, this little test would not cost anything but a few minutes to execute.

Both file types are keyword. If the file thinks it is braille and it is actually computer braille or text, it might just work.

This is what I do know. I can access .kwt files on my computer. There are a few things at the beginning that I need to remove. The file is readable. I tried this when I had to send my unit in for repairs. I wanted to know if worst came to worst, could I access my files. The answer is "yes". There is just a little junk in them. If you work only with a copy, there is nothing to be lost by trying these methods. It beats losing all the data.

Please realize that I am aware that changing the file extension does not convert what is in the document. It seems to me that the file is confused and contains text (computer braille) rather than actual braille.

Now I will keep silent on this topic.

Respectfully,

Joleen

Hi. I screwed up, and I copied a number of addresses from the gps v3.5 to a file in keyword. Unfortunately, the information is in computer braille, but I saved them in a keyword braille file. the information displays correctly, but whenever I try to save it to a different format, so I can print it, the braille note tries to back translate it, for example, where there is a number such as 1751, the saved file has the letters en inplace of the 5. I have tried to save it as a text file, tried to force it to grade 0, by putting the entire info in a block, then using correct grade and setting it to computer braille. I have also tried to export the file, and just about everything else I can think of. I have also tried to copy the information to the clipboard and pasting it into a text file, but it still gets back translated for some reason.

Which setting am I missing?

many thanks

phil
