Do you use the built in mike or an external mike?
I might have to send it for repair, it seems. Regards

To ad to the mess, I must say that MPower external recording is
really
pathetic. A samsung digital camera has better recorded voice
output than my
BN unit. I compared the 2 today and really pitied my unit, and
if the
experience of the others on the list is the same with recording,
then I must
pity the people who spend so much on a unit and can't even get
the bare
minimum off the features pre-installed in the units.

Subject: [Braillenote] Sharing My Negative Experience
I purchased BrailleNote Mppower under 2 months ago. I have had
to return
the unit on two oaccasions to Humanware's headquarter in
Christchurch for
check and repair. Shortly after I purchased it, I noticed a
problem with
the wireless network feature of the unit. It was a problem
particular to
the unit I purchased. When I talked to Humanware in
Christchurch, where I
got the unit from, they told me to send it back to them. I did
that but
they returned it back to me with a letter. Their finding was
that the
wireless network problem with my unit was according to their
test occuring
once in ten trials or experienments and as such it was not a big
problem.
If the occurence of the problem was as low as they said, I
could have
lived
with it.
I decided to give the whole thing one more chance and I
received the unit
and tried to use it for a little longer. But the wireless
problem
persisted and it reached a stage where I was hardly able to use
the Mpower
to get on the internet. I explained to the people in
Christchurch and
they
finally agreed to replace the main component of the unit. The
unit is now
in Christchurch. The problem with the wireless network
initially was
that
the unit does not recognise the card more often than not even
though it
was
supplied to me by Humanware with the unit. Before I sent it
back to
Christchurch for a second time, insertion of the wireless
card started
to
cause the unit to hang or lock up. The moment I remove the
card, the unit
comes back to is noramal state. If the problem was minor, I
could have
put
up with it. As some one who is reasonably technologically
literate, I
have
been always sure the problem was a defect with the unit as
opposed to my
lack of knowledge on how to do things. But when you are told
that
wireless
communication is a feature of a unit you bought, you expect this
feature
to
work. Since I bought the unit 2 months ago, it has spent more
time either
in transit or in Humanware's office in Christchurch than it
has in my
possession. The whole experience has turned out to be my worst
purchasing
experience. I am sure you can appreciate how frustrating and
indeed
annoying it is when you buy something thinking it is wonderfull
and all
you
get is a lot of hustle and headache. It has cost me a lot of
time and
money
as I have had to send the unit to Christchurch fully insured
as it is a
unit worth a lot of money. I would like to think that this is a
rare
experience with Humanware customer service. I wonder if anyone
has had
an
experience like mine. I am beginning to wonder when I am going
to get
the
unit back and use it without any major problem. My experience
does not
make
me keen on having more to do with Humanware in the future. Let
me hope
that they will do something to change me around.
Gideon

Kristen,
The Unilities Menu is not really
program-specific. This means that the items
on the Utilities Menu falls onto the category
of misc programs. The Utilities Menu is
there to set up system functions, such as
date/time, ActiveSync connection, language
options, and so forth. So it won't be
implemented (this is solely my opinion)

And Backspace With Enter With P to go to the
Planner/ Calendar;
And Backspace With Enter With A to go to the
Key-List/Address-List Menu;
And Backspace With Enter With E to go to the
Keymail/ Email Menu;
And Backspace With Enter With I to go to the
Keyweb/ Web-browser/
Internet;
And Backspace With Enter With M to go to the
Media Center;
And Backspace With Enter With B to go to the
Book-reader;
And Backspace With Enter With S To go To the
Scientific
Calculator;
And Backspace With Enter With D to go to the
Data Base Manager
Menu;
And Backspace With Enter With G To go to the
Games Menu;
And Backspace With Enter With F to go to the
fm radio;
And Backspace With Enter With H to go to the
users Manual;
And Backspace With Enter With R to go to the
Remote Synthesizer;
And the Space-bar with I to go to the
information menu;
And The Space-Bar With O to go to the Options

And the Space-bar with A lower F which is
dots 2-3-5 to go to the
task menu;
Then We could have some combination of either
the enter key or
the backspace key or the space-bar-key and
The Letter F to go to
the File Manager Menu;
And we could also have some combination of
the backspace key or
the enter key or the space-bar-key with the
letter U to go to the
Utilities Menu.
These are just my thoughts and Suggestions!
SMILE!
I hope to hear from each and every Single one

Hi Mike;
I wish there were more ways to get to the
file manager also and a
way to access the pronounciation dictionary
without having to go
to the main menu etc.
For example, I would like to be able to
access it from the
bookreader or Keyword so that whenever I
found a mispronounced
word, I could just go in and fix it and
return straight to my
book or whatever.
By the way, write me off list, I have a
question for you that is
not on topic.
Thanks Mike and everyone keep those
suggestions coming!

what if you want to print more than one
document? you would have
to open
that document to print it, while the way it
is now, you can just
select more
than one file to print
Mike the star trek guy

Chaman,
You might want to put that forward on the
feedback page of the
HW
website, then. However, I think the file
manager shouldn't be
part of the
main menu, but vthe KeyWord menu instead,
because keyword is to
do with
file related functions and the file manager
is to do with file
related
functions. Also I think the emboss and
print document options
should not
be in the keyword menu, but when in a
document you could go to
the format
menu, or something, and just choose the
emboss or print option
from there.
Just a bit of a quicky instead of having to
exit the document
and do all
of them steps like that.
