Jose, I tried for about a half an hour yesterday morning before I finally
capitulated and asked if it was something I was doing wrong, which I was
almost sure it wasn't, but I figured I'd ask anyway, and I tried again last
night. I got nowhere both times. Not sure why that's the case. It's not
really urgent, just something his teacher thinks should happen, if it can.
And being that I'm the only student in the school with more technical
expertise than the teachers, they always come find me when they want things
done. Oh well, at least I won't have to argue with that when I get my new
unit. It will already have the latest version of KeySoft on it. Still a bit
confused as to why it worked with my old serial number, and not the other
student's current one.

Ah, so I was right about the password. However, when I put in
his serial
number, it decided to tell me invalid login or password. quite
odd. Don't
know where I went wrong there. Actually I don't believe I did
anything
wrong, because I took the numbers directly from the little
Braille label on
the back of his machine. Never seen that happen before. Oh
well, at least it
works for the number on my old unit. I tried it just to see if
it would do
anything, and it showed me that I had no SMA's remaining, which
was indeed
correct.

Krista, The password is frog1 I really don't know why they chose
that
password but that's the password. Write back with the results.

Hello,
I am a new member to the list, also a BrailleNote user. I'll be
getting an
MPower by the first of the year hopefully. Currently, I do peer
tutoring for
a student in my school. I'd like to use the Sdw website to see
if he has any
updates remaining. I know that we need a password for the
website, and I was
wondering how we obtain his particular password. I know there's
a "forgot
password" link there, but it asks for your serial number and it
will email
someone, (his school district I assume), the password, and we
can't access
it if it emails them. Is there a universal password, and if so,
can you
write to me off list with it?
Thanks,
Krista

Flor and list,
Just to clarify here: It is actually between 64 MB and 512 MB
(that is,
64, 128, 256, and 512 MB cards) works.

It must be _either_ 64 Mb _or_ 512 Mb, not
256 or any other between size. So, just either of 64 or 512.
that's how
I understand it.

Hi,
I don't know what the file system was. I
followed the directions
on the Humanware site exactly. The card is
256 MB or something
like that so it falls within the right size
parameters. I guess
I'll try again tomorrow . Maybe I'll have
better luck.

Nikki,
What was the file system that you've selected
while formatting
the card?
Also, what is the card capacity? If it is
more than 512 MB, the
upgrade will
not run properly.

Hi,
Yes, I did everything the instructions said
to do. All went fine
up until I
did the restart with J and K held down. That
is when it said "SD
card
error"

Nikki,
Did you inserted the card into the SD slot?
Did you put the
nk.bin file onto
the card in question?

Hello again,
Well, today is just not my day I guess.
(grin) I am just now
starting to
feel comfortable enough with my new BN to try
to upgrade to build
47. I
have followed all the instructions precisely
and I am getting an
error
message on my braille display when I do the
restart with J and K
held down.
It says "SD card error." Can anyone tell me
what I am doing
wrong please
Thank you all.
Sincerely,
Nikki B.
