Subject: re: [Braillenote] KeySoft Bootloader
Three questions.
1.is there any danger of corruption or other software damage in
this?
2. What sort of display? That would be neat to watch (well
actually to have described) but what display is needed?
3. How do you know all this? <smile
Thanks for the information..
Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] KeySoft Bootloader
Flint, Alex, and list,
I have changed the subject line to reflect
its content.
If you are interested, you can skip this
thread. For those of us who are interested,
or want to learn more about what is going on,
read this.
Flint, it is actually a braille version.
Just like BIOS, it also has some system beeps
as well. There are several menu options that
are availible (I have discussed this a few
weeks earlier).
A typical KeySoft Bootloader on a BrailleNote
mPower running KeySoft 7.x looks like this:
Update Menu v2.0
Update KeySoft
Update Bootloader
Start KeySoft
Then wrapping back to the top.
Here is the description and the hotkey for
each item:
1. Bootloader version: this basically tells
you what version of the bootloader is
installed.
2. Update KeySoft: as the option suggests,
this is the option to use when upgrading
KeySoft (hotkey 1 or Reset with dots 4-5
(j-k).
3. Update Bootloader: This allows you to
burn a new update bootloader. Useful when
upgrading to a new Windows CE (hotkey 2).
4. Start KeySoft: restarts KeySoft (hotkey
d, or Reset).
5. Debug mode: this allows you to view what
KeySoft is doing using a remote display.
This is useful for programmers and
technicians. When it is on, an ascending
tone will be heard; when it is off, a
descending tone will be heard (hotkey c/dot 2
on BT).
If you have any further questions, let me
know. I hope this information may help you.
PddS. To access Bootloader, press Reset with
dots 4-6 (j-l); to exit Bootloader, just
press Reset.
