Dear Sissy:
It is best to run your unit off of ac power when available as the
more charge/discharge cycles you put the battery through, the
sooner the battery needs replacing.
I think the User Guide recommends you completely discharge then
fully recharge the battery about once every three months to keep
it healthy.
