Hi again Lois,

You won't need to worry much about entering in computer braille with a
qwerty keyboard since you are entering similar to a PC by default. Use the
word at a time and see if you find a text only field. If not, someone with
a qwerty keyboard will need to help you with detecting edit fields. Believe
me! You can do this!

Hi James,

Maybe this is more than I can do. I should have mentioned that I have a qt.
The other thing is, I don't know computer Braille. That's okay though. I
can do the magazines and when I can afford it, I will join Bookshare.

Thanks again for all your help. I do appreciate it.

Take care,
Lois

Hello again Lois,

Using a BT keyboard, use dot four with spacebar for your general reading
till you get close to where you need to edit your search information. If
you think you are close to that edit field, use read words command or dot
five with spacebar. When it asks for the author, last name first, watch
closely for something that says text input or text input end. You must
write what you are searching for in computer braille. Once you have entered
what you are looking for, find the go search button or whatever they call
it. Names of search buttons vary from site to site. You may need to wade
through stuff at the top of the page or you can do a find command (spacebar
with F to take you where you need to go. When I'm reading braille books or
magazines, I go to those sections so I get what is truly available through
NLS only and those items which have been brailled as of last August I
believe. Others may have a better answer though!

Hi James,

Thank you very much for your help.

Is there an easy to search for a book, using the online catalog? I can't
seem to find an edit field in which to type. I've red the part of the user
manual, but I can't find an answer. I'm going to know that manual by heart
by the time I get it all figured out.

Take care,
Lois

Hello Lois and list,

This is with the BT Keyboard.

Once you are reading your magazine, press spacebar with S to save your file.
You will be prompted for the folder and file name. I usually use the NLS
number as my file name and if it is in more than one part, I add V01, V02
etc to the same number with the dot BRF extension. Once you have saved your
file, press the back control (enter with B) to go back to the previous link
which is the agreement, and type the back control again and you will be at
the list of the titles of your favorite magazine. Select the next part and
press enter. You are back to the agreement. Accept the agreement and you
are in the next part as before. Be sure to select the notetaker link of
course. Keep doing this till you have downloaded the complete issue of the
magazine.

Hello,

I am trying to download a magazine from nls web braille. I get as far as
reading the agreement and accepting best for notetakers. When I push the
button, nothing happens. I don't get any prompts. I can then read it
online, but no download happens. Am I missing something? At this point, I
can't go back or forward. Any help or ideas would be most appreciated.

Thank you,
Lois
