Hi Tom,

Maybe you're not doing anything wrong. For, when I tried using my SBC
dial-up number with my cell phone and BN and Cingular service awhile back, I
wasn't able to use my phone that way--well, at least not until I got a data
plan. Best I can tell, when I got the data plan, they added CSD and data
connect to my account, then I could use the phone as a modem both with my
SBC dial-up number, as well as with the GPRS data plan. The dial-up number,
when used, went against my cell phone air time minutes, while using the
settings and dialing string for the GPRS went against my data plan usage.

Subject: [Braillenote] Still Can't Connect

Hi,
I followed the procedure to set up an Internet connection, using my BN
MPower with my Nokia 6682 as a modem. I can pair the BN and the 6682 and as
far as I know, I have all the parameters for the dialup connection set up
properly. When I attempt to connect, the 6682 asks me to accept the
connection with the BN, to which I reply yes. The BN says "dialing", and
then I hear a series of beep tones repeated three times. This series of
tones is exactly like what you'd hear if you dialed a disconnected number.
The BN then says "no carrier".

I don't have a Cingular data plan just yet, so until then I want to do an
ordinary dialup connection using an SBC access point that's known to work.
I tried it with the BN and its internal modem and logged on successfully.

This one's got me puzzled. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Tom
