Hi KC,

I am curious as to what you mean about "mode support" and what cleaner you use for the braille display? I have only had my BN for about 4 months and want to keep it in good condition. Also, I would really like to know how many people out there purchase the hardware SMA each year. I think they told me it was about $500 a year for my QT 32. Is it worth it? So far, I have had great luck with my unit but I am wondering how reliable these machines are especially after reading some of the posts lately.Any suggestions or words of wisdom would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Nikki B.

Sharon!

You made my blood run cold! I can truly sympathize with you, as
I too rely heavily on my Braille Note M-Power.

Since I don't live too far from Concord, CA, which is where your
Braille Note was sent, I can tell you that the temperatures here,
over the weekend, were in the 20's. The question is: WHO IS
RESONSIBLE, HUMANWARE or UPS? Was the Braille Note insured?

I wonder if you would call HumanWare and speak with Katie? It
seems to me that, since they shipped the device, HumanWare is
responsible for this problem. (What I mean is that HumanWare
has the right to take it up with UPS.)

Like you, I've been experiencing problems with my braille
display. It is odd, because I never had a problem with my
Classic. However, in May, of 2006, I sent the BN in to have the
display repaired. Now, it has to go in again. I can't help
wondering WHY?
I've been doing the Mode Support and using the cleaner
recommended by some Bn users from this List. In any case, I was
deterined to hang on to the BN as long as possible, mainly for
financial reason. Hopefully, it will warm up soon and I can get
it fixed. It would be nice though, if someone would tel us why
these displays appear to be less reliable than the ones in the
Classic.

Sharon, my thoughts and prayers are with you. God willing, you
can work out a satisfactory solution.

KC
