I suppose what you're saying is just a bit far afield from the BN, etc. But this is so tremendously helpful that others may find it so too. Thanks so much; perhaps I can find a used one, if others have gone to the ink-jet. You'll never guess what I have here at home: a panic sonic KXP1180 or something such as that.
Thank you so much. I'm going to do this THIS WEEKEND.
I can't wait to be able to print from my desk. Here's a prim and proper, but hearty handshake from Nebraska.

Dear Penny:

If you want an ink print printer, may I respectfully recommend
the HP LaserJet family of printers.

Lasers generally cost less per page printed, make a permanent
image which won't smudge if it gets damp or your hands get moist
from sweat etc and you can get colour or duplexing models.

Duplexing is where the printer prints on both sides of the sheet
of paper.

In your example, a short 20 line document won't benefit much from
duplexing, but you really save bulk when printing longer
documents, such as essays, projects etc.

You do save on paper expense, but paper is pretty cheap these
days so that isn't the major advantage.

I find the real advantage of duplexing is in bulk and postage
required say to send a 14 page document in the mail instead of a
28 page document.

For a blind person, the really big advantage of a laser printer
is it doesn't have ink nozzles to clog up if you don't use it
regularly. Inkjet printers need to be used every week or so to
keep their ink flowing correctly.
