Dear Jose,
Welcome to this list. I'm sure that you'll
find many people who are willing to help you.
I have used my Classic running 6.11 before
receiving BrailleNote mPower from the school
district. I enjoy it, particularly its
connectivity and power.
If you are going to move to the world of
DAISY, the best way is to use "transplant"
program. That way, you can have your old
display while enjoying all the benefits of
using latest technology. KeySoft 7.2 adds
DAISY and USB CD-ROM support, so it is
prepared for books on CD.
In Classic, you have better file management,
stats support in KeyPlus, and a wide range of
functions. On the mPower, it has DAISY
support, USB CD-ROM support, CompactFlash VGA
(monitor) card support, and more. I would
personally recommend that you take advantage
of the "transplant" program to ensure that
you have the latest technology availible
today, while remembering old days by using
your old display.
HTH,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] New Braille note user
with questions
Hello all:
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name
is Jose, and I recently got a used braille
note classic, and really like it.
Ironically, my very first computer was a
Keynote PC + ... my how keysoft has evolved.
Anyway, I'd like to hear about people's
experiences with both the classic and M-power
using the latest Keysoft. As my unit has 5.1
and no remaining SMA counts, I'm debating
whether to pay the 7 or $800 to upgrade to
7.2, or to just transplant.
Obviously the M-power has it's advantages,
processor and connection-wise, but I'd also
like to know what people think of 7.2's
functionality on the classic. Thanks in
advance.
Jose.
P.S. Does anyone have an idea of what's to
come in keysoft 8, or whatever the next
version will be called?
