Hello Sammie and list,

I think you have a good point which I enjoyed reading. On the other hand, Joseph Lee, Richard Ring and Rhonda Clark would get just as much mail as they receive presently. The rest of us wouldn't get all this mail. I think these abovementioned persons know when a topic is important and they'd forward their answer to the list, perhaps the same answer more than once. No doubt these same persons get a great deal of mail we don't see. All of us would have the option to answer someone's inquiry to the list if we wished. If I'm asked about embossing documents, I certainly could send it to the person or to the list. I think too going through the archives would be much easier too. If I felt someone really got out of hand, I'd be comforted to know my reply would go to that person only. Quite often I'm doing mail on my PC. I think those of us who favor this change are already on such lists and I think this change would also keep down unnecessary off topic discussion. That's my take for what it is worth!

hello list,
I may be wrong, but I think that if your desire is to receive
less E-Mail on a given subject, it would be preferable to leave
the list as it is. Imagine how many times some of you send a
message to the list and that message is answered, commented on,
agreed with, disagreed with, or just responded to with a one word
sentence. I've seen comments that were no more than "hmmmmm" to
list messages. Changing the way the list works now does two
things, in my opinion: first, it prevent people who may learn
from the reply seeing the reply and second, think of the number
of messages a person writing to the list would get! A person like
Joseph Lee or Richard Ring (two examples) would have their
in-boxes over loaded with messages that nobody else would see.
I think it's so easy (with the braille or voice note) to go to
the From line and press backspace with k to copy the sender's
address. Then just forwarding the message and pressing backspace
with v to enter the address on the send to line. After you enter
an address in the send line, your machine will ask if you want to
include the original message. You can press y for yes or n for
no, and at the subject line you can type in a new one if you
wish. In this manner you can give the sender your comments,
agreements, etc without sending them to the list. However, as in
all things, this requires disciplines. As many times as it has
been requested on this list for people to change the subject line
to reflect what "THEY" are talking about and not something that
is inferred by the subject, in my four years as a list
subscriber, this has not happened. The person writing the
reply must be interested enough in where his or her message is
going to take a few seconds to insure whether or not it goes to
the list with something informative and helpful or whether it's
just a reply to the sender with an off topic observation.
Another way to cut down on list traffic is to read the messages
you receive before responding to them. In many cases, after you
send your reply further reading will show that the message has
been answered and you would only need to reply to provide
additional information or to correct an incorrect answer to the
query. There's no reason to reply to a message just to see your
name on the list if you're not adding something substantial to
the answer already provided. It would also make the list less
cumbersome if people responding to a message would delete
anything except the most recent message in the string they are
responding to.
If you have any comments about my opinions on this subject,
please reply to me off-list. I am an adult and can take any
abuse you wish to heap upon me about this subject. The list
won't be cluttered with personal stuff and I can always delete
what I don't like or respond directly to you if I think you were
to savage in your whipping of me. Any comments can be sent to

The commands for lifting the sender's address from the "From
Line" and placing it in the to line using the qwerty keyboard is
control with c to copy it and control with v to put it in the
send line.

Thanks for reading,

Sammie Clay
