Hi, my name is Chad Fenton, and I've just joined the list. I don't have an
mPower, but shortly will be getting one through the U.S. government's CAP
program. I have a couple questions about it, but will save that for a
follow-up e-mail. I'll attempt to answer your question. From looking at
the manual on the Humanware web site, I believe you have put the BrailleNote
into speech request mode. This means that it will only speak when you use a
command that is a specific speech command, such as Read with G to
continuously speak text to the end of a document. Have no fear, though,
this is easily fixed. You'll want to hold down the Previous thumb key,
press Space, then release both keys. You should see Speech Off on the
Braille display. To restore speech, do this same Command by holding down
the Previous thumb key and pressing Space, whereupon the BrailleNote will
say Speech on. This same command can be used to move between these three
options of Speech On, Speech request, and speech off.
You can also turn the Braille display on or off by holding down the Next
thumb key and pressing Space. Doing this same command will turn the Braille
display back on again. Don't worry, Keysoft is smart enough that you can
never have both speech and Braille off at the same time.
Regards,
Chad

Subject: [Braillenote] M Power QT partly speaking
Hello All
Can you help. I have just bought a Braille Note M Power, , with Qwerty
keyboard, 18 cells. I have partially switched off the voice. The Braille
display (I think) is right but I can only get speech by pressing the
repeat
button (next to the space bar on the right).
Reading in the manual, it would only read after pressing read and G,
and
only one line.
Can someone please tell me how to get it to read fully again?
Thanks
Marcia
P S I am learning to read Braille so at the moment I need to have voice.
