Vicky,
Again, I apologize for miscommunication there. I meant cost of the battery replacement.
Cheers,
Joseph

backup battery for the BrailleNote

So, are you saying people are getting
surprised with these bills? Or, are
you saying they are being charged after a
discussion with HW when the unit
gets returned for service? I guess I'm
thinking that maybe, seeing as the
unit is already in for the cleaning, the HW
persons suggests the battery
replacement so they then hopefully won't have
to worry about sending it in
again for awhile.
And, best I can tell from reading the info on
the HW web site, general
maintenance/replacements of batteries aren't
covered under any type of
warranty.

As for this list, although Andy did say he
was going to try for a week this
having messages go to the sender, overall,
well, yes, I do agree that the
list has been different in the last several
months. And, grin, I guess some
folks will like it this way while others
won't. As for myself, I'm staying
on the list for now, as I've looked around
and just don't see any other
note taking product that has quite the ease
of use as the BN family members.
My PK goes with me practically every where,
and I'm regularly using the GPS
and
connectivity and word processor and planner
and address list and calculator
features.

battery for the BrailleNote

Hello, Sammie:

First of all, I am glad to see this
discussion go to the list,
rather than private messages. I miss seeing
those important
tidbits of information we used to see on the
list. Thanks for
making sure we all saw your post.

Rob, you mentioned the battery taking up the
CF slot. Sammie
mentioned her reasons for not wanting that to
be done. If you
are running an mPower, you also have USB
ports.

I'd like to thank Eugene Manfrini for
bringing up this
discussion. He did ask a good question. I'm
not sure he got
good answers from us. I don't know enough
about the Braille
Sense to talk about the battery for it, and I
don't want to get
us off-topic. I will say that I wish it
could work out, that our
units didn't have to go back for the battery
change. This
comment brings me to another question:

I've noted that some people, who purchase
their unit, send it
back for the year cleaning and what have you.
They are saying
they are being charged for a new battery. I
am curious about
this: Is it required or recommended that
batteries be changed
every 12 to 18 months? If so, why would
someone be charged when
they send their unit in for a new battery?

Again, I appreciate this discussion. Makes
me long for the old
list, (smile).
