Hi Mary-Ellen

In answer to your questions:

1. "reconditioning" your battery is a softer way of giving your battery
some attention than recalibrating and doesn't divert your unit from use
for over 15 hours like recalibration does.

2. "Reconditioning" means letting it run down till it's nearly dead,
e.g. to 3% of its charge, doing a reset and fully charging it and then
making sure you use the battery so it goes down to that low level,
again.

3. Recalibrating is recommended monthly, by some, but several times a
year at least. You are right that the manual has no precise instructions
about this.

You do it by selecting the options menu, pressing space-with-i for
"support information mode" and pressing space for "flash-disk log" which
keeps the techies at Humanware happy should they need to investigate
your unit.

It locks the unit's operation up for 15+ hours but is like aerobics for
the battery and maximises its life and efficiency.

After you enter the process, though, to paraphrase the old Isley Bros
song, it's a case of "look yeah but don't touch baby". (smile)

Hi folks!
I just received a message on my Braille Note mpowerwhile plugging in
the ac
to recharge the battery that "reconditioning is recommended."
1. what does this mean? and 2. How do you do it and 3. is Recalibration
ok
to do because this is what I am currently doing, will that wreck the
Braille
Note.
Incidentally, Humanware staff the reference for manually recalibrating
the
battery in the owner's manual is missing.
Thanks everybody!
Mary Ellen Earls
