I think you can choose WEP 64 for network security. It isn't as good as WEP 128 but beats leaving the network open. You may not have a lot of problems with snoopers on your network. Figure the wireless signal may travel 300 feet in every direction from where the router is located. If you are in a house on a 50 foot wide lot, that isn't the whole neighbourhood. However if you are in an apartment, it may be the whole building and give a good signal into neighbouring buildings. A lot depends upon the sort of people in the neighbourhood you live in. Take care.
