Hi Sammie and list:

By way of a cc of this message, I'm referring your question to
Mr. Gerry Chevalier, the Victor Reader Stream Product Manager.

I'm not trying to pass the buck, but want you to get an
authoritative answer to your question about the Stream before you
spend $329 of your hard earned money for a new unit that may not
meet your needs.

You can certainly download book files from Book Share and other
sites with your Mpower to its SD card. I'm not certain if the
Victor Reader Stream can transfer data to its SD card from an
Mpower using the USB port of the Mpower.

You would think that since the Stream and Mpower are both made by
Humanware, albeit one in Canada and the other in New Zealand,
they should be able to work together, but I learned a on time ago
not to make assumptions about anything technical.

If you aren't in a rush to buy a Stream, you may wish to delay
your decision to buy or not until some of us on the list have
physically received our new Streams and had a chance to try using
them with our Mpowers.

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Question concerning Victor Reader
andBrailleNoteuseability

Hello Mr. Lingard
No, this does not help. I still want to know whether this
reader can be used with my BrailleNote to download any type of
material I wish, without the added necessity of using a computer.

I'm not interested in the NLS's reader, because I believe I will
receive it free. My concern is a reader from Humanware which
will cost more than $300.00 to purchase and may still require me
to be a computer user for it to work. I realize that my
BrailleNote is only a PDA to be used mostly in conjunction with a
computer, but if I were computer literate, I wouldn't have a
$6500.00 MPower. I'd have a computer with JAWS or EYES and the
ability to download to a CF or SD card without a Victor Reader.
And what I'm trying to do now is get a comprehensive,
straight-forward answer to this question: "Can the Victor Reader
be used with my BrailleNote without my needing some type of
personal computer?"

Thank you,
Sammie Clay
