Hi List,
Today's BrailleNote chat (dubbed Second BrailleNote Chat) went
well. We had about 18 people join us, including Charles LaPierre
(programmer for BrailleNote GPS), Maurice Sloane (from HumanWare
headquarters), some people from GPS Talk Users List, some people
from BrailleNote List, including but not limited to: myself, Alex
Parks, Matthew (I don't know who), Mike (nor either), Terry
Sanders, Rich, Derek Roberts (Big D), and many others, including
Tiffany and others. Thanks for all of you for joining the chat
today. It was very productive (I can't believe it).
We've discussed many things, from Microsoft Word document support
to operating system upgrade and even to GPS 4.0. (Alex will tell
you more about it in Question-Answer form). Some of the things
we've discussed are:
* Word conversion support
* Operating System upgrade and its impact on BrailleNote users,
from memory usage to Bluetooth enhancements
* Use of Braille Terminal and Remote Synth via USB and
possibility of combining these two.
* Impact of Unified English Braille Code in the BrailleNote
* KeySoft Software Development Kit (SDK)
* Improved Bluetooth stack and introduction of Bluetooth Object
Exchange and Audio support
* General remarks about BrailleNote case (especially on mPower)
* Debate on last version of KeySoft for Classic
* Possibility of supporting USB WiFi sticks
* Remarks on Eloquence
* Possibility of email synchronization to MS Outlook
* General remarks on hardware itself, namely whether current
hardware is ready for Windows CE 6.0, microphone, hardware
upgrade and so forth
* KeyWeb suggestions and issues, including the error "not enough
storage" and inclusion of "MailTo" tag in KeyWeb (used to send
mail using KeyMail from KeyWeb; also known as Send Mail link)
* Bluetooth suggestions and issues, such as issue of pairing with
GPS receiver, frequent drop of connections, etc.
* Discussion of KeyView - visual display software for BrailleNote
- and how it looks like and works
These are some of the things that we've discussed today (I hope
Alex would post the detailed summary later, if he has the
transcript.).
Cheers,
Joseph
