Hi Terry,
I have no knowledge on this because: one, Victor Reader (except BrailleNote version) has been my field, and second, I don't own a standalone hardware Victor Reader (including Stream).
Cheers,
Joseph

ReaderandBrailleNoteuseability

Hi Joseph;
It sounds to me like Sammie is asking if the BN and stream can
transfer
imfo like you do in active sink with a computer and a BN. I
tried to
explained that cards can be transferred, but it sounds like she
is
looking for a direct connection. Also thumb drives can be used
with the
stream.
Joseph, any idea on this?
Terry Powers

Hi Sammie,
The Victor Reader Stream in question is a standalone reader--that
is, it does not need a PC. The Victor Reader Soft technology,
which powers DAISY functions, is already here.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hello Sharon,
Thank you for this post. Since I, and many of my friends with
Braille or Voice notes, don't have personal computers, we also
wonder about the feasibility of this reader if we need a computer
to make it work with our devices. Nowhere in the announcement
message did I see anything that would indicate that I would be
able to use my BrailleNote with this reader in the absence of a
PC. Before I even consider buying one of these readers, I'd like
to see some documentation from Humanware which specifically says
a PC won't be necessary to make it work if I have a Braille or
Voice Note. In other words, I'd like to know that if I purchased
this Victor Reader, that I could sit in the airport and download
books or music using my BrailleNote, wirelessly without the added
encumbrance of a laptop or desktop computer. Any reassurance
from Humanware will be greatly appreciated. Also, I'd appreciate
Joseph Lee discussing this with Mr. Sloane in his Chat today.
If he can do this, please report Humanware's position on this to
the list, since those of us without computers won't be able to
participate in his Chat.

Sammie Clay

Subject: [Braillenote] Question concerning Victor Reader and
BrailleNoteuseability

Hi List:
Here's another question. Since you apparently need to buy a
Victor reader, do you have to use it in conjunction with the PC?
This would be the one for, I believe $329.00. If so, what about
for those who don't own a PC and feel that the capability should
be available on their laptop--the BrailleNote? If you have to
have a PC, how does this make the Victor Reader accessible for
BrailleNote users? I think we all have to understand that, in
this world of choices, not everyone chooses to have a PC.
Any help you could give would be very much appreciated.
