Oh Mike, thanks for that! So, are you saying then that the actual Flash disk won't disappear, but rather the files on it? If so, then I would regard that as a good thing, but if the "folder" disappears too, then that's no good. So, are you saying then, that if I hit delete on the flash disk folder I'll only be removing files from it, and not the "folder" as well? Sorry for the many questions, but now I'm beginning to understand why Flash Disk appears as a "folder" and therefore we're allowed to delete it. Thanks once again for the help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Gibson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Chris Hallsworth" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "BrailleNote List" <[email protected]>

Hi Chris,

This has more to do with activesync than BrailleNote. If you were to attach a standard PDA you would find a similar situation. The main PDA storage area is listed as a folder as well.

Being able to delete the flashdisk is actually a very useful thing. If your unit ever starts to act extremely strange or behaving badly deleting the contents of the flashdisk allows a new flashdisk contents to be copied from the ROM image. Also if you were to ever sell your unit this is always a good idea because of personal information. In a way you are restoring the unit back to its original state from the factory. Of course you will loose any settings or data you have saved but it's a good idea to make a regular backup of your flashdisk anyway. Performing this proceedure is extreme and a last resort but it can be very effective.

When you do choose to delete the flashdisk you have to confirm each file and folder by typing yes. There is no yes to all option so it is an involved process. You can't inadvertently delete the whole thing with one keystorke.

SUBJECT: [Braillenote] A serious observation

Hi all,
Another mPower BT 32 observation, but this time it's to do with how it works
with ActiveSync. When I view it's structure using My Computer/Windows
Explorer, the Flash disk (yes, the *Flash disk*) appears as a folder. Worst
off, we're allowed to delete this! Surely this can't be right, and that
Flash Disk should appear as a drive? Could this be due to a "bug" in
ActiveSync 3.8? I'm not intending to delete this flash disk, but just
curious as to why we're allowed to in the first place. Thanks in advance!
