Hello Brian and list,
I can confirm the problem with SDHC cards in my VoiceNote SD
slot. I doubt though that a different hardware SD slot has to be
provided to make these cards work. The reason I say this is
because when I tried my 4 GB Sandisk SDHC card in my MileStone
digital recorder, it failed to work but a friend told me about a
firmware patch I could run to fix this problem. I got the patch,
installed it, and now the MileStone uses those cards with no
problem. I believe the MileStone has been out just about as long
as the mPower line so hopefully, it can be fixed with a patch
rather than a soldering iron.

Subject: [Braillenote] SDHC Cards and the BrailleNote/VoiceNote
Mpower;Wishing Well
Ottawa Canada
In speaking with Tech Support at Humanware, Concord, California,
on Friday, August 31, it was explained to me that the Mpower
cannot presently use SDHC cards in the SD card slot because these
cards were not being designed or produced when the Mpower was
designed, and thus the SD Card Reader on the Mpower cannot
accommodate SDHC cards.
However it was mentioned that SDHC cards are often provided with
a little adapter that lets you plug them into a USB port and they
work just fine on the Mpower with their USB adapter.
The Mpower considers them to be a Hard Disk.
This is for Maurice and others at Humanware:
Q: Would it be workable to start installing SDHC Card Readers on
the Mpower and to offer to retrofit older Mpower units with SDHC
Card Readers as they are sent in for routine service such as
Braille Display cleaning and repair, battery replacement etc?
I'm not sure how much re-design of the Mpower or its software
this would involve.
Just a thought and a wish for the Wishing Well at this time.
