Yes, I understand that. What I was on about is the "serial number is
required" message. If I get this, then I'm screwed in a way since I don't
have any external devices; I currently rely on ActiveSync for my file
manipulation from and to the BrailleNote. So if I can't connect to
ActiveSync due to this message, then I'd have to send my unit in and get it
re-flashed, I guess. Or alternatively, and I guess it's the cheaper method,
buy a USB thumb drive or whatever, and copy the product key file onto it.
Then, should I need to rename it to pdiboot.exe, I can do that by copying
the renamed file to the root of the SD card via either ActiveSync or an SD
card reader, depending on what I buy in the first place. Sorry if this is
confusing, but I'm trying to explain my situation here, and I hope that
helps.

Chris,
It is required to upgrade using a SD card on the mPower and a CompactFlash
on the PK and Classic.

Right OK, thanks for the help. Suppose I better buy a thumb drive or even
another SD card then. However, if I can't even connect to ActiveSync, and
I don't have an SD card reader, then my only choice would be a thumb
drive, correct? Thanks again for the help.

Chris,
The only way it is possible to rename the product key to pdiboot.exe
after the installation has commences is to rename it on a PC or another
BrailleNote.

Hi all,
So what did you all think of that podcast that Joseph did on upgrading
Keysoft? I thought it was very good. I have one question though. If we
get the message "serial number is required", how can we copy that
product key file to the root of the SD card, in my case as I have an
mPower, and rename it to pdiboot, when Keysoft is unable to run in the
first place? I don't believe this was explained. All in all though,
well done Joseph for a great podcast; the upgrade sounds quite
painless, if we all follow along with not only the instructions but
perhaps Joseph's podcast too. Now it's just the case of me doing it
live, as it were. Will let you know how it goes when I do it!
