Hi,
I'm back.
And, I had my BN 32 in for battery check and replacement.
This was here in the UK.
It was picked up Sep 5th, I received it back, fixed, Sep 11th.
Well done HW and thanks.
Steve.

I had a Braille Note 32 in for a battery replacement and display
cleaning
from July 13 to September 3. I, too, was told to call back each
week.
Apparently, a new type of board was also being replaced, but I
did not know
this until I asked what was taking so long. They had to wait for
more
boards. I almost told them not to replace it because I did not
ask for it
in the first place. Humanware needs to alert individuals when
something
like this happens instead of leading them to believe that the
only repairs
being done are the ones one asked for. Sorry for the rambling.
Sharon

I have returned my PK for a keyboard problem on July 11, 2007 and
call
Humanware again yesterday, only to find out, that I should call
again next
week. I am hoping that this is not the normal time it takes for
repair.
I
can only express my own experience.

Hi all. It seems the right end of my bn's space bar is not
working and
since
I can't use my left hand for space bar, I will need to send it
for repair.
I
was told it will go to california. I am at Florida. Are there
some
cautions
you would like to suggest before I send the unit to California?
I am
planning to send it by UPS. Generally how much time does it take
to get
the
Bn back?
Regards
Taraprakash

Hi Nikky,
You wrote:
I need some advice. I have just noticed a dot on my braille
display
which seems not to be going all the way down. It raises up just
fine
but
I can still slightly feel it when it is supposed to be flat. I
don't
know much about braille displays since the BN is my first
exposure to
them. Any suggestions or advice on this would be appreciated.
It was
just cleaned last month but I sure will send it back in if I
need to
because my warranty runs out next month.
Find that dot and give it a good whack for being so stubborn!
<big grin
Actually, that's not too far off the mark. Even though the
display's
been
cleaned recently, a month is plenty of time for skin oils, dust
and
other
stuff to accumulate, possibly causing one or more dots to stick
or
respond
poorly. My MPower BT32 is a transplant with a four-year-old
display. I
had a dot that was behaving as you described; in fact once it
was raised
it stayed there and wouldn't go down. So since I didn't have
any canned
air to shoot at it and dislodge it, I took my index finger and
gave it a
gentle but firm tap. It's been a good little dot ever since,
working
like
a champ. If you don't feel comfortable with that idea, get some
canned
air from a computer or electronics shop, point the nozzle at
that dot and
give it a good shot, which should dislodge it. Or you can
exercise the
display as others have suggested.
Oh, another thing. I just started noticing this
since I upgraded to 7.5 this evening. Is this a coincidence?
Yes, that's highly likely.
