I have had the best luck using Spanish computer braille in ms word files. I rely on email to hand in work, and the accents and such show up fine on the teacher's computer. You may want to move towards a more electronic approach, if the problem is getting work to teachers. If not, it sounds like the embosser is interpreting things as English computer braille. I have not played with it, but you may want to try a different embosser braille table or look for a setting in your embosser's menus. If you do switch to Spanish computer braille, let me know as I have used it exclusively for the last 2 or 3 years and am willing to help with any problems that come up.

Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] Spanish Braille

My daughter is learning the Spanish braille code this year. She
is using the numeric code to input the special characters and that is working fine. My question is that the Spanish Code list I have (from the Library of Congress "World Braille Usage" book) says dot 2 for comma, dot 3 for full stop, and a capital sign dots 4, 6. However, in her Spanish braille textbook and in materials produced by Duxbury (uncontracted Spanish) it shows comma as dot 6, period as dots 4, 6. My daughter also uses a U chord for caps. I'm confused.

Also, is there any way to use the visual display when writing
Spanish and have it translate correctly on screen? Currently we are still using HyperTerminal -- will it improve with KeyView? It looks like the only way my daughter can print out a correct translation is to export it as a Word file and print it from Word. She cannot get a correct printout when going directly from the BrailleNote mPower to the embosser. Reason?
