Chances are that you just connect the cable that came with your card
reader to a USB port on your computer, and plug the other end into
your card reader. That connects the card reader to the computer, and
the computer will recognize the card reader as one or more drives that
you can identify by using the My Computer or Windows Explorer programs
of your computer. If your computer's operating system is Windows XP,
the card reader should be recognized, and become operational, without
installing the drivers on the CD that came with the card reader. Then
all you have to do is find the appropriate slot in the reader for your
card, and insert it. Search through the new drives added to your
computer by the card reader until you locate the one with your card in
it, and from there, it's just copy and paste like other drives on the
computer. You'll find it a lot faster for transferring files to your
Victor Stream than by using the Stream connected directly to the USB
port.

Subject: [Braillenote] Card readers.

Hi all.

I just bought myself a card reader from Radio Shack so I'll be able to
use
it instead of having to go through the USB port for my Victor Reader
Stream
or through the serial port for my Braille Note. The only problem is
it
didn't come with any instructions. It came with a small CD-Rom disc
that
I'm assuming goes into your CD drive on your computer, along with a
cord
that I'm guessing connects to your computer somehow. The only thing
is I'm
not sure if the disc is accessible and the cards go in the reader. I
can
see several slots on it, but I'll have to figure out how to install
the
driver that's supposedly on the CD and connecting it to the computer.
I
have some SD cards and a CF card, but I'll worry about where the slots
for
those are once I figure out how to use the reader! If I have to I can
use
the USB port on the computer for the Stream, even though it's slow and
takes a long time just to put one book onto it, but I'd really like to
use
the reader for my Braille Note to avoid the hassle of having to
connect the
Braille Note to the computer and having to download Active Sync and
installing it. A card reader would just go a lot faster, I think. If
anyone could help with this I'd really appreciate it!

MissWings
