Will,

What you will want to do is find a block of time that you will not be using 
the unit. This block of time should be perhaps 12 hours or so. Plug in your 
unit, go into options, space i for support info, then r for recondition. You 
will want to plug in headsets as the unit will chatter itself until it 
drains the battery then it will charge itself back up, it will continue this 
cycle until the battery gauge is accurate once again.
