The archive files are too big! It's partly because of overquoting and
partly because the files are kept for too long!
I think HumanWare should throw out all the files older than 2007. Also, the
archives should be sorted by month. That way only one month at a time could
be loaded and searched.
They could take some lessons from GW Micro's list archives and see how
nicely they have been done.
Some lists I belong to put a limit on the size of quotes in a message. If
someone tries to post a message with too many overquotes, the person
receives a polite post telling them their post was rejected because of
overquoting.
I also think there should be a FAQ section on the HW web site which is more
extensive. There should be separate categories for KeyWord, Keybook, Daisy,
KeyWeb, Keymail, Keyplus, foreign languages, math, file manager, calendar,
connectivity, etc. Each category should have 20 most commonly asked
questions. That way, people could search the FAQS and if their question
isn't answered there, then they could post it to the list.
I don't think an archive should be more than 12 month long and a new archive
should be started every calendar year.
