Hi Kev,
thanks a bunch for your response.
unfortunately, my m-power is not under warranty, and it was claimed that the parts were unavailable from Tieman. I probably won't do anything about it other than consider other options.
Cheers, Richard.

Richard,

I believe the person you spoke with was mislead. It is possible
for
HumanWare to get the parts for the Braille display for the mPower
or PK from
Tieman or Baum. It make take up to a week to get the parts
ordered and so
forth, but it is surely possible. I would recommend phoning in
again and see
if you could get a different answer. It would also be a good
idea to make
sure that the unit is still under warranty because replacing the
display is
and can be quite costly.

Kevin

Hi,
as I've mentioned on this list before, I have an m-power and was
informed
that my braille display could not be repaired because humanware
could not
get the appropriate partts from Tieman.
This is particularly annoying for me as i do quite a lot of stuff
in welsh
and, as you can imagine, the bn does not speak welsh very well at
all.
Cheers, Richard.

Hi. My braille display just died today just quit working
altogether
regardless of what I tried. I'm wondering though if these older
units mine
being from 2003, are still cleaned and repaired when sent in,
given new
batteries whatever they do. I am thankful i still have speech,
but use
braille daily especially in my work environment speech alone
won't cut it
for me so just wondered if anyone would know the answer about the
oder units
with the mpowers that are out thatt I'd love to have, but which I
know rehab
won't help with but if i could at least get this back up and
runnng, i'd be
happy with that for now. thanks and outside of this, this
machine's been
awesome! I feel like part of my brain just quit so overall i
can't complain
too much just hard reading books with just hspeech oh well,
better than
nothing I suppose.

Peter,

Perhaps the most important thing is to make sure that it is
removed when
it
isn't in use and to place it on a clean surface.

Are there some general things to bare in mind to make sure the
card lasts
as
long as possible?
Peter.

Hello Debby,
My guess is your wireless card is starting to go bad. I'm on my
third
card in two years, and it is now beginning to act up. The two
previous
cards demonstrated the same characteristics before finally going
out
completely. I know, it's a little spendy to have to keep
replacing
these cards. With any luck at all it's something simple, and you
won't
have to replace your wireless card. David

Hi Debbie and All:

We sometimes experience wireless connection problems as well on
both my
wife's Voice Note Mpower with QT keyboard and running Keysoft
7.2, and
my Braillenote Mpower with BT keyboard running Keysoft 7.2. What
works
for us is to unplug our wireless router for about 30 seconds,
then plug
it back in. This re-sets the router and everything works.
Debbie, this
will help you at home, but I'm not sure why you can't connect
reliably
in other places.
