It would tell you the com port during the installation. The alternative way to find the information is to go to add new hardware in control panel. The add new hardware wizard provides a list of hardware and the com port for the serial USB port. There might be another way that I'm not aware of.

While installing the driver, does it tell you which com port is
being
used? How do you find that information? Thanks.

The driver will need to be installed. The cd including the
driver comes with the cable. I suggest plugging the cable in
prior to installing the driver and you would want to make sure
which com port is being used before adding the braille display.

So all I need to do is go to Radio Shack and ask for a serial to
usb
converter cable, connect it to the serial cable, and the other
end to
the brailleNote? Are there any drivers to install with this
cable?
Sorry for all the questions, but I desperately need to know.
Thanks.

Sharonda and Kevin, the cable is a radio shack brand. I have to
use the
cable that Humanware sent me and conect it to the serial/USB
cable. So it
is now working since I reset the braillenote.
