Hi Kylie, I had my mPower for just under 3 months, and it's as reliable as ever. Yes it crashes from time to time, but that's acceptable; in fact, KeySoft 7.5 seems to crash less often than KeySoft 7.2 build 47! Just my views there. Good luck.

Subject: [Braillenote] mPower reliability and parallel port

Hi everyone

I am considering a transplant to the mPower but have a few questions.

I do not need convincing of the superior functions of the mPower over the
Classic, but I wondered whether the mPower is as reliable. My classic is
running 4.1 and I have not had any trouble with it whatsoever over the last
five years. I still even have the original battery and it outlasts that of
my PK.

How have people generally found the mPower? Is it more likely to need
servicing/repairs? My classic is purely a standby machine if my PK breaks
down, but I am beginning to think that its software should be a little more
up to date.

The other major function of my Classic is to emboss. My embosser uses a
parallel port. Is it still possible to do this with an adapter from one of
the ports on the mPower?

As I said, my Classic is simply a backup and I have absolutely no problem
with it as a machine. I know the mPower is much more advanced, especially
when running 7.5. But I don't want to trade in my most reliable piece of
equipment for something that is likely to need constant servicing, or cannot
emboss to my machine.

Thanks for your help

Kylie
