I must agree with what Chris said with regards to not mix up the termanologies 
of the older note taking devices and the more modern
ones. It isn't possible to classify backspace, space, and enter all into one 
category. With this situation, we are not accounting
for the QT and function keys that are available on devices like the VoiceSense.

I usually say <space>o for "o" chord, but I am probably in the 
minority.
I can't remember exactly why but think it goes back to the way 
compiler writers describe terms in languages.
So anything like space or backspace I tend to shove between <>.
