Ross,

If it is possible, I would just go ahead and purchase the modern VoiceNote
mPower. There were many hardware and software
enhancements made since the Classic and KeySoft 3.7. The cost if a VoiceNote
mPower is $1995 in USD and believe somewhere around
$2500 in Australian dollars, Scott Ericson can provide the exact quote.

A few major hardware enhancements include:
Built-in Bluetooth for connecting to Bluetooth devices such as: Bluetooth GPS
receivers, keyboards, computers, mobiles, printers,
embossers, and other such devices.
SD card support
Built-in recorder with external microphone jack
Two USB Host ports
One USB Client port
Removal of Parallel port
FM Tuner chip
414 Mhz processor as compared to 100 Mhz
Flash Disk is now 128 MB
RAM is now 64 MB
Will support the current add-on of the Sendero GPS V4.2 and Nemeth Tutorial
Note: These are just a handful of the hardware enhancements made between the
Classic VoiceNote and mPower VoiceNote. The RAM and
Flash Disk storage was greatly expanded in the mPower units, can't recall what
it is in the Classics.

Another add-on is the Oxford Concise Dictionary and Thesaurus, which is a
superb accessible resource.

The list of software changes between KeySoft 3.7 and KeySoft 7.5 would be quite
extensive and would recommend visiting the HumanWare
website at: http://www.humanware.com/ and researching the changes made and what
is available in the current KeySoft 7.5 version.

I am sure that any of the list members would be more than willing to give their
personal thoughts on using the mPower with KeySoft
7.5. I hope that you decide to make the transition to the mPower with the
excellent KeySoft 7.5 and consider any of the excellent
ad-ons of the Sendero GPS, Nemeth Tutorial, and Concise Oxford Dictionary and
Thesaurus.

I have been a Beta Tester as well as a user of all of these ad-ons, so should
be able to answer a handful of questions that you may
have.

Subject: [Braillenote] questions, re voice note, classic qt

Hi,
I am new to this list and am from australia.
I recently acquired a voice note classic, qt and have some questions.
firstly, this one is running 3.7 version. Can I upgrade to 7.5 and if so what
is the cost?

Secondly, are there any hardwre upgrades available.
This one, has on the back pannel, a nine pin, 1 cf slot, and 1 printer
connector.
And on the right hand side, 1 PCMCIA slot.
thirdly, cf cards.
Are there different types of cf, and what are those differences?
Can the classic run these different types of CF?
Thanks for any help that can be given.
Ross.
