As far as traveling with the Braillenote, I took it in my carry on bag. When going through security, I simply pulled it out and placed in a separate bin. I was never asked about it and never required to open it or take it out of its case. This was as of yesterday. My flight out was the same. When going through security, I always ask security for someone to help me go through. This simply helps me keep track of stuff and not worry about a stranger walking off with my items because I could not see them.
On an overseas trip, you may have to open the case but I doubt you would have to take it out of the case but I have not been overseas since getting my unit. Good luck and let us all know how it goes.
