Just as a side note,
I have been getting those emails from yahoo as well saying that I'm using unsecure connections etc. and I will not be able to use email clients if I continue, and I have ignored them for months and been ok. So I don't know if it's a real yahoo message or not. I looked at the "from" field and the email address says mailbot at yahoocom, so that makes me suspicious.

When the notice from AT&T regarding the switch to SSL went out last May, it said that the drop-dead date for the switch was somewhere around the end of August, 2007. During that period, both secure and non-secure servers would run in parallel, presumably in order to work out any technical glitches and accomodate those who needed extra time to switch. . I would suspect that the deadline slipped for some technical reason or other, but it doesn't really matter. At some point the transition to the new secure servers will be complete and the unsecure servers will be taken offline. If you haven't switched by then you'll be left in the lurch. So it would be a good idea to make the change and be done with it. It only takes a few minutes tops and you won't have to worry about running afoul of the mail bot or being caught at an inconvenient time when you really need to get a message out and can't.

Tom
