Hi Shaz,

I don't understand but:-
Given you are on a QT are you entering things only in grade 1?
What type of file gives the problem, ASCII, Braille, ...?
Is there anything in common with the information after these grade changes, i.e., does the grade change just before a particular sequence of letters?
In the manual 5.3 it intriguingly says:-
"If your preferred Braille grade is Grade 2, KeySoft will occasionally override your preference and force Grade 1."
It doesn't explain why or what makes it change.
If you make a file of just the grade 1 part, can you translate it into grade 2 successfully?
(I hope I have not simply revealed my confusion).

Regards,
Steve.

Hi, thanks for this but I am using a QT keyboard so I don't think
there is a way you can easily change the grade by mistake. I
can't get rid of the indicator and I can't find anywhere that
tells me how to put a grade two indicator in. Also when I go to
the options of the display it is still set to display in grade
two but the display is showing grade one.

Good Morning,

I have a question. Is this a document you are creating? If so
you may have accidentally changed the grade for braille input by
hitting backspace and dot 1. My student did this yesterday when
taking his spelling test, and when he couldn't enter the wh sign
I was puzzled. I moved around the document to figure out where
the problem began and I found the grade 1 indicator. I also
found that I couldn't delete it. The only thing i was able to do
was place the cursor just after the grade 1 indicator and press
backspace with the letter b to change it to grade 2 braille.

Subject: [Braillenote] Indercater that is changing my Braille
grade I don'twant

Hi, I have a number of documents that are suddenly changing
braille grades half way through. I have found a braille
indicator
on my display at the start of the part of the documents that has
changed back to grade one. When I arrow over the indicator the
voice says nothing and when I try and delete it I can get it to
disappear off the display but as soon as I press enter it comes
back in the same place. I have tried making a block from the
second letter after the indicator to the end of the document and
then pasting it above the indicator but this doesn't change the
grade of the words in the block. While in the text that is in
grade one I check the options menu and see what grade is meant to
be shown on the display and it says that it is still in grade two
so I don't know what is going on. I have a QT MPower running
keysoft 7.5 build 28. The only way I have been able to get rid
of
the indicator and make the whole document display in grade two is
to retype the second half of the document putting it above the
indicator but tonight I copied something from one document into
another not realising that the document I was taking the word
from had the indicator in it so now the document I retyped the
other day has the indicator in it again and I can't get rid of it
from either document without retyping it all again and it is
allot of work so I don't really want to do it. So I am hoping
that someone has some answer for me. I have tried blocking off
where the indicator is and deleting it, I have tried just back
spacing over it and I get rid of it but as soon as I enter the
new line again it is back. I have tried deleting both the letter
before and after it as well as anything between to get rid of it
but no luck.

Also when I try and spell check any of the words after the
indicator I get the message that the spelling dictionary is not
installed but if I try checking a word in the same document
before the indicator there is no problem with the spelling
dictionary.

Hope someone can help and hope you can understand what I have
written.
