Wow, that was harsh, and I'd say that was not called for on this list. Yes, that was rather blunt of Joseph to go off on John like that, but it will only get worse if people start arguing and getting in an uproar about one missreading of the email. I don't know how many times I wasn't paying attention or zoning off while reading email. I'm gonna stop right there and send this thing cuz I don't have any other comments.

Joseph, Just who the hell you think you
are? Are you having problems with your
BN and are unable to delete email that
you don't want to read. If you don't
want to discuss any issues that have
been brought up before, just delete the
stupid email and be done with it? Is it
that hard to do? Does someone need to
teach you how to delete unwanted emails?
I'm sure someone would be happy to.
John said that he hadn't been on the
list for some time so that was the
reason for him asking the question. If
you can't give a polite or decent answer
to future questions, just "Don't respond
and delete the email." I didn't notice
that Alex agreed and Brian doesn't work
for Humanware. So far as someone
selling their BN, maybe they're more
satisfied with their new equipment.

Keysoft?

Hi John and list,
I have something to comment regarding
this and other similar
threads. But before I do this, here is
the short answer: we
don't know. According to history,
HumanWare has mentioned the
feature set of new upgrades towards the
release time in order to
thwart competition.
Here are some comments regarding this
whole thread:
Throughout the history of the list, it
had a dradition of some
people posting the same question: "what
will be included in the
next upgrade?" We have repeatedly said,
"we don't know; HumanWare
will release it in the end," but some
people have iggored this.
Also, after answering this question,
someone would say, "then why
don't HumanWare just release it and be
done with it?" Again, the
answer was, "HumanWare, like other
companies, fear that other
companies would try to mimic
BrailleNote's features." - which did
happen and vice versa (I'm talking about
Bookshare unpack tool
and other such features.). More than
one person has answered
this question, but the question keeps
coming back to "haunt" the
list, producing a negative atmosphere
where some people have sold
their BrailleNotes to get better
products from other companies;
you might have noticed that about two to
three (and sometimes
four) people have sold their BrailleNote
to migrate to a
competetor's product, as it happened
with one of the sellers
(I've seen this person over at a
competetor's list before).
So here's my opinion about this whole
situation here: if more
than one person gave the answer, then it
is the answer. Brian
repeatedly said that HumanWare does not
discuss new features
until the product is about to be
released; so did Kevin, Alex,
myself and others. Since at least three
people agree here, I
think it could be treated as an
"official" answer, meaning two
things: first, there's no point to
discuss this further (once a
problem has been solved, there's no need
to report about it
anymore (unless it is a faulty equipment
or software)); second,
if this kind of question (even if it is
caused by curiosity) is
repeatedly asked, then the users would
feel that HumanWare is
somewhat secretive (sorry for using this
term here) - in other
words, the users would think that
HumanWare is not listening when
in fact HW staff is carefully listening
to suggestions,
complaints and comments from users
(creating a false negative
environment).
These are my comments about all these
"new features" threads that
has been circulating on this list for a
while. If you have
something to say, please write to me off
list (use my Blind Sea
account).
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Version 8 of
Keysoft?

Hi,

I have been off of this list for a
while. I know there was
mention of Keysoft version 8 at CSUN
being released sometime
later this year. Have there been any
details released about what
features and enhancements it will have?

John
