Part of the problem is that there are not enough reps. I am in Maine, and to get a demo of hw products by hw I would have to go to New York. There are places in Maine to demonstrate, but I have a friend who went there and was told that the pk could print and emboss, among other falsehoods, so I do not really trust the local demos.

Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Product Comparisons

Hi All:

I agree with what Brian has said regarding note takers. I also
want to
expand a bit on what Joseph was saying.

I work in an Adaptive Technology Center where we have all four of
the
notetakers. I can tell you that for all of them, not much has
been
released about upgrades prior to the upgrade coming out on the
market.
I remember there was a lot of discussion about the Pacmate Omni
before
it hit the market, but not a lot of details.

My personal view is that all of the notetakers have their
advantages and
shortcomings. What we need to do is research each one. Freedom
Scientific, Humanware, and probably GW Micro and Levelstar have
representatives around the country and in other countries to do
demonstrations and let you get your hands on them and try them
out.
Take advantage of these opportunities to learn what's out there.

Thanks,
