On the GWN list, Raul made a great comparison between notetakers.
Please check the pinahraphs.
Of course what I have to say is biased, however I've said the
same thing
to die-hard Braillenote users and they have agreed with me.
This is a good comparison. It is worth noting however, that
despite the
Braillenote having a PCMCIA card slot and an Infrared port, these
types
of technologies are outdated, so unless you have old equipment
which
relies on this, I don't see it as an advantage. The original
Braille
Sense has an Infrared port as well, but neither the Voice Sense
or
Braille Sense Plus do.
Another thing which is worth noting is that you can upgrade the
software
for our notetakers using either an online or offline method.
Also, if
using an offline method via memory stick, it does not matter what
size
memory stick it is like it does with the Braillenote.
The Voice Sense does have built-in Bluetooth and Wireless
capabilities,
so there is no extra devices needed for these functions. If you
require
a wired LAN connection, you do need to purchase an ethernet CF
card
adapter, however if you think of the Voice Sense more as a PDA
rather
than a notetaker, the lack of a wired LAN port makes more sense.
Lastly,
to date, we have not charged for software upgrades to our
notetakers.
The same cannot be said about the Braillenote family of them.
Many thanks.
Living in the Present One day at a time, This is enough. Do
not look back and grieve over the past. For it is gone. And do
not be troubled about the future. For it has not yet come. Live
in the present, and make it so beautiful. That it will be worth
remembering.
