Subject: RE: [Braillenote] SD cards
The SD specification actually says that 4GB SD cards and higher
are SDHC and
it looks like that some 4 and 8GB SD cards hit the market before
this
specification was fully adopted. This is how it should be
according to the
SD card specification:
SD cards, 64MB-2GB
SDHC (high-capacity) cards, 4GB-32GB.
Note: 32GB cards are not yet available and the mPower will only
support the
standard SD cards.
If one is wanting to take advantage of large capacity cards, I
would
recommend CompactFlash cards as the BrailleNote mPower, Classic
and PK
support CompactFlash cards of 32GB.

Dear Nick and list:
The SD card for an upgrade to KeySoft must be between 64 and 512
MB
inclusive. No larger or smaller card may be used! To update an
Mpower, you
MUST use an SD card of between the above capacities. To update a
Classic,
you need a CF card of between
64 and 512 MB inclusive.
The Mpower works with regular SD cards only, NOT SDHC cards!
Regular SD cards are made in capacities of 64, 128, 256, 512, 1
GB, 2 GB and
4 GB* someone claimed they met an 8 GB regular SD card but these
if they do
exist are very rare.
Pick a size of card listed above and your Mpower will love it.
* There are also 4 GB SDHC cards and these don't work in the
Mpower.
Where to buy SD cards:
Try your friendly local computer store, Circuit City, Radio
Shack, Sears,
Wal-Mart, Best Buy, most office supply stores and online and 800
sources
such as:
Tigerdirect.com, newegg.com, amazon.com, memorysuppliers.com,
sandisk.com
etc.
You didn't ask this, but I will:
Q: Will Humanware someday upgrade the driver for the SD card slot
on the
Mpower to work with SDHC cards? I'm just itching to stuff a 16
or even a 32
GB SDHC card into my Mpower and have it work!
Happy upgrading and happy shopping. Nice thing about shopping at
Sears, is
if it doesn't work, you can send it back for replacement or
refund, no
questions asked! At least that's how they are here in Canada.
