There are a couple posssibilities here. First, if you get the laptop
and phone paired and connected, you could use the BrailleNote to go on
the net or check email via Active Sync (either a serial or Bluetooth
connection). When you set up your connection under Options and the
Connectivity Menu, choose "Ethernet Network Connectin" for your modem
type.Leave everything else set to defaults.

Pardon my possible use of incorrect technical terms for this next bit.
I'm erring on the side of providing quick information at the peril of
using the wrong terms. In order to connect your Dad's cell phone to his
laptop or your BrailleNote, you need to know the INIT string of numbers
your cell phone provider requires in order for the computer or
BrailleNote to be able to use a modem connection with the cell phone.
For example, when asked for a phone number in my connection to my AT&T
cell phone, I have the symbols *99******#1#. You could find this number
through a search engine, but it would help for someone to verify the
name of this number.

This may be more confusing than helpful in which case my apologies.

Subject: [Braillenote] questions about connections at NFB convention

Okay, I am trying to figure out how I am going to get my email while at
convention.

I have been trying to get my father's laptop to connect to his phone
(using
AT&T) but that is not working so far. If anyone can help on this issue,
that would also be appreciated.

Now, here are my two questions. First, if I am ever able to get the
above
working, is it possible to connect to his laptop with my BN to use the
internet/email? via bluetooth preferably, or via usb if I have to.

Second, if we are not able to make any of the above work, is it possible
to
use the BN to connect to the hotel's wireless and pay for internet
service?

Here are my specs:

phone is a Motorola Razr v3xx
laptop is Vista
BN is QT (please do not send braille keyboard instructions)
KS 7.5 build 28 (I have build 29 downloaded but not installed yet)

Thanks for any help.

Cindy
